Introduction to Archery
My interest in archery arose from my interest in all history, particularly that of the medieval times. On joining Waterside archers and starting shooting with a recurve bow I noticed an odd bunch of guys who were shooting out on their own and seemed to be as popular as a group of lepers! On closer inspection I noticed they were all shooting longbows and I immediately thought how great that would be to get involved in that aspect of archery as that was what, in my mind, true archery is all about! Back to basics with just the skill of the archer and no modern gadgets to aid him! On approaching the longbow guys I was most surprised to find just how friendly and helpful they all were with their advice and enthusiasm. I immediately struck up a rapport with the lads and the rest is history.
