Introduction to Archery
Martin’s introduction to archery was at a school fete “have-a-go”. After joining Waterside Archers Martin soon became an accomplished shot with both recurve and compound bows before his maverick spirit led him to the longbow. After much success as a BLBS target archer Martin took up shooting medieval warbows, his many years of hard graft as a mechanical engineer providing him with a strength far beyond that expected from someone of his moderate stature. Martin now shoots bows (accurately) in excess of 110 lbs, his current distance record with a 56 gram, 3/8” battle shaft being 237 yards. Martin has a passion for medieval history and often turns his hand to creating pieces of armour and authentic arrow heads.
