Introduction to Archery
I first tried Archery at a sporting manor at Oakhampton in November 1997, and thoroughly enjoyed it. I made enquires and found a club at Applemore School in Dibden Purlieu. There I started shooting with a modern recurve bow, but noticed that a small group of archers shooting longbows seemed to get much more enjoyment from the sport, whether they were hitting the target or not, so I joined their ranks shooting a flat bow until such time as I purchased my first longbow from Ron Palmer in May 1999. I also shoot a Mongolian-style bow, which is ideal for field shoots deep in the woods. My latest project is making a Medieval Crossbow, which is in the final stages, and I am dying to try it out!
